I've kept cleaned fish in the fridge for a couple of days when fishing out of town or out of state, then brought them home iced down for the ride, then froze them that day or the next morning ... and no problems.

I'm out of town fishing. Caught a few fish yesterday on Wednesday. I'm going home on Friday and plan to fry the fish for Easter dinner. Seems long time to not freeze them. I could try to freeze some here at the motel but then I would have to keep them Frozen on the way home.

Freeze, ice down in good cooler inside the vehicle, and you'll be good for 5 or 6 hours.

Stores sell them unfrozen in there display coolers for a few days. Heck I ice mine down on a 2 night/3 day trip and don't even clean them until I'm home. The trick is don't let them float in ice water, keep the water drained out every few hours and add ice as needed.

The day of the fishing trip doesn’t count and if you fish the next day or clean your boat it’s still considered the same fishing trip so according to my calculations Friday would be day 1 of the clock ticking.
I and pretty much everyone I’ve fed is still mostly alive.
Hope that helps.
