These lakes are "flood control" lakes managed by the Corps of Engineers ... and they don't give a rats patooty about boaters, anglers, fish spawns, or anything else other than water level control (ie: flood control).

Not to mention monies lost from overnight accommodations, restaurants, bait shops and fuel.

So you’re saying I should be more patient?

True ... but we're talking mostly about COE lakes in the state. Their priorities are flood control & water management.

So you turned the vehicle around in the picnic shelter entrance & backed the trailer down until the boat floated ??

Seriously though ... with the lake level staying at around 703 for the last 10days, it wouldn't surprise me if the fish are bedding back in the trees.

On an even less serious note : how do you pay to launch ?? I mean, the launch fee machine is a good 15-20 feet under water ... IF it's still there & wasn't taken out before the water got to it.

No conspiracy theorist here, but it does seem to be a bit on the coincidence side that the COE gave Holmes Bend Marina the control duty of the parking lot & launch ramp just before the flooding. SO, now they'll have to clean the parking lots of all the silt/mud & debris as the lake level drops below each lot level in the coming days & weeks of the drawdown. I do hope they will be compensated for that work.

lake levels are by the Corps of Engineers which is a federal government agency.
They don't care much about the local economy around the lake for the state.
Fishing there is privilege which means they could stop it at any time if they wish.

we launched on the main road and parked at the cabins. That is where we was staying for the week. No launch fee

Common carp was starting to spawn back in the coves aswell. Wind just made it a struggle to stay anchored or stay on spotlock with a 22ft lowe deckboat and 112 terrova.
Thanks CrappiePappy thanked you for this post
