lighted Magnifiers
I have a question for you. Do any of you use a lighted magnifier when tying??? I have new tri-focal glasses and do see better with them, but miss fine detail at the same time. Guess I'm looking for suggestions on where to get one, power of magnification, etc. Thank you. Eric

I've thought about using a magnifier but haven't yet. I do have to wear my glasses though when tying now. A bright light and background is a big help too.

I wear my glasses all the time, and I'll agree with the rest on light and back ground. However, when I take a picture, like the rod wrapping, I see details in the picture I didn't see with just my eyes, probably because of the magnification. I just ordered a 10x desk top bi-fold lighted magnifier from amazon for about what Harbor freight wanted. The one closest to me is out of stock...so I did the next best thing. It is projected to be here the tenth...

Well I've worn glasses since middle school due to Stigmatism. How ever a bit over a year or so + or - a bit, I developed a hole dead center of the Cornia of the eye. Even after surgery it's not exactly right because the scar tissue is right in the middle. Then I had surgery for cataracts and still need glasses. Trust me, after cataract surgery, everything lightens up and becomes brighter, much brighter. I'm using the darkest sunglasses the VA has for prescription glasses, level 5 dark, and wish they were welders lens dark. outside on a bright day, my eyes stay wet from watering. And some of the acuity?? Detail, isn't what it was...hence the lighted magnifier...

might look into jewelers head band visors type as they have multiple powers and you flip up out of way when not needed

I have to wear readers for anything within arms length. I bought a pair of flip up 2X clip ones that make it work fine for tying and building rods. I think I got them at Hobby Lobby.
