    Default Cheaters

I can't stand people who cheat when it comes to fishing. Bass at a city park I fish regularly have already moved up on beds. I was talking with a guy that was trout fishing and he told me a story about a guy with a sling shot who he witnessed shoot three bass about 15" with it the day before. Then he said I think that's the guy. Across the lake is a guy walking along, then he stops and shoots a bass which he quickly gets to the bank. I yelled at him to stop and start walking around the lake towards him but he quickly leaves before I can get close enough for a license plate. Drove off in a white car. Still really ticked off about this. Shooting bass on beds with sling shot darts is about as low as you can go, the worst I've ever seen.

Next time don't yell, video, get the info you need and call the conservation agent. Never in my life even heard of anyone doing that?

I've never heard or seen that either. With any luck your yelling at him stops him from trying it again.

If we really want to make a difference then all fishing tournaments during the spawn should be prohibited.

what a guy, lousy is not a bad enough word. As for banning all tournaments during the span, Not sure it would make much difference. but I'm not a logger so i don't know.

I'm with beagle and just a different opinion on the subject so no disrespect but would bet WAY WAY more fry and eggs are food for other fish than anything man can do. Maybe ask other fish to be vegetarians during the spawn?

Nature tends to balance it's own self out as long as we leave it alone to do so.

After it happened I went on google to look at dart fishing and seen videos of guys shooting snakeheads and rough fish like carp and buffalo. I wouldn't mind if he was hunting those but bass certainly taste better. Lake is 5 acres here in St. Louis with concrete around the entire lake. Average as far as bass population goes but it's close to my house and I fish it regularly for bass in the summer month's. Most are under 18" which is the legal size there. One guy can put a big dent in the bass population at this lake. Without predators like bass to keep bluegills and other fish in check can result in a bunch of little stunted fish.
