It’s warm enough now, my partner in crime wife is wanting to go fishing w me. Her license was out, so…
Went to WM in Booneville, their system is having troubles and they couldn’t get in to sell her one.
I remembered that I thought you could buy them online, so went and tried. Scrolling through seemed like 3 dozen different license offerings, absolutely could not find a simple resident fishing. There was a fishing/small game for $20 that by now I was desperate enough to go for. But the catch is, gotta have hunter ed id number to buy it if born after 72. She is from TX originally, doesn’t hunt anymore, has no hunter ed number and born in 78![]()
Stopped by Lonnie’s sporting goods in Corinth yesterday and they sold her a resident fishing license for $10 + fees and taxes. Whew I hate dealing with computers and state agencies!
By the way, we went on Bay Springs, and I’m lost to where/what the fish are doing now. Water surface temp was 62 by midday, but tried my good shallow spots and nada. Finally ended up squeaking out a meal off deep brush in 20+ fow with ffs and jigs. Man, that pollen in the water was brutal! Screen was useless down to 5 feet or more on the ffs.

Years and years ago Lonnie was telling me a story about his son coming in working in the store. Lonnie had a bunch of very old plugs, new in the boxes, he was saving. If I remember right they were very old Heddon plugs, collectables. His son didn't know Dad was saving them and thought the dead inventory had to go. I forget if his son made a bargain table or what to get rid of the old plugs, kinda comical when Lonnie was telling the story to me with his son standing there. Every once in a while he would throw a sideways glance his way. It's been a very long time ago at a NBS show when he told me about this so I could be a little off but Lonnie's store always comes to mind. Good people, all yall's local independent sporting goods stores. You mentioning them made me chuckle.

I carried my boat to Nashville to fish with my landlord. She hadn't had TN fishing license in 4 years. We went to walmart first, the salesperson was no help after 1 1/2 hours of trying to figure out the computer system. Next stop was a bait shop. Another 2 1/2 hours and she had license in her maiden name. The clerk used her driver's license for info. She had been married 4 times and none of those names came up.
My oldest has to call Jackson every year to renew his license.
Got to Enid Sunday afternoon and tried to get a non res online. Tried signing in and couldn't connect. Went to Cossar state park office and they told me system was down. Sent me to the Enid fish hatchery office and they couldn't sell me a license because the new and better system was down. They took a picture of my drivers license and signed the copy. The game warden told me I got a free day of fishing.
That new system may be better ,but I renewed the registration on Feb . 25. still waiting . I have receipt on phone .
