    Default "Nothing like the thump"

Thought I had everything ready but my first outing was short lived . blew a fuse on my trolling motor when I ran aground . Should running aground cause a fuse to blow ? Never had this to happen before . Figure it would blow a fuse every time you turn it on , if it had water in the foot . Got the first thumps of the year before murphy's law got me . lol Name: IMG_20250328_205833333.jpg

Bud if your trolling motor blade was stopped momentarily you have a short across the armature it will blow the fuse. Swap the fuse out to a inline circuit breaker and you can reset if needed. Usually the little marine inline breakers have a #10 threaded post for #10 ring terminals and a silicone boot than reduces the chance of water intrusion. Most manufacturers rig the breakers right off the supply side of the trolling motor battery or batteries.

Oh, most essential thing in my tool bag on board is a good assortment of extra fuses.
