    Default A Fun Day

Got out finally yesterday. Very cool to start the day, but watching the sunrise on the water is a blessing from God. Sometimes the most simple things bring the most happiness.
Water was smooth before the wind came to visit water temp on Soddy Lake was about 56 degrees. Anderson road brige was once again my target area and it seems I got there first but was soon joined by several others. One young man in particular in a foot-paddle yak pulled in and started a conversation. It seems he was mostly fishing for bass but proceeded to ask me about crappie. I told him the bridge is a popular crappie spot and he mentioned hi grandfather had told him the same. I always I was using a blue ice jig and it seems granddad had told him blue ice and monkey milk were his go to jigs. I invited him to stay around and give it a try. He had a new live scope and he told me I was right on top of them . Well he said he always carries a light action crappie rod so he started fishing. His live scope did him well, it wasn't long until he pulled in his first crappie of the day, and a minute or so after I had mine. . After a while we both were catching at a fairly steady rate. Him new school, me old school. when he left he was at 13 crappie and two bass and one yellow bass. Most of the crappie for us both were small with a few just at legal keep size and we both got a 11 inch and a 12 inch crappie. my total was 14 in the boat. the thing that really stuck with me was he thanked me for helping him understand a little about crappie fishing. I told him about CDC and it is the fine people here who help me as I am still a beginner in my mind. I am hoping to find him here one day. Fish on folks

Good post Dan. It’s one thing to tell of what we offer and enjoy here, but quite another to know that the person you tell will put it to use. Sounds like he was an avid fisherman and he would probably have a lot to offer here as well. Glad y’all found the fish and enjoyed the morning together.
