    Default Pflueger Reel

I don't know the best place to put this thread. I'm sure more will see it here. I have a Pflueger underspin. It's my favorite reel. The reel stopped letting string out when I cast. If you try to pull string out by hand it comes out very slow. It's hard to pull. I can't find anything wrong without the reel. I've tried different types of string. 4# mono , 10# braid. Nothing works. All of the other functions work fine. Drag works. The reel releases when I pull the trigger. The string just won't come out. Anyone ever have this happen?
    Thanks for reading.

Have you completely removed the line & re-spooled it ??

Have you checked to see if the gathering pin is actually retracting when you pull the trigger ??

Is the drag set real tight ??

Has the reel been dropped or stepped on ??

I've replaced the line several times with good quality line. Nothing works. When the lever is pulled the pin retracts as it should. I'll check it out some more. And see if I can find what's wrong.
    Thanks for looking.

I've found the problem. The steel rotor has a couple of rough spots on it. I'll need to get some Emory cloth and polish it. Will Emory cloth be best or fine sand paper?

I think braid line may have caused the rough spots.

I was going to suggest looking at spool. That’s really about the only thing that the line would hit when bale is opened.

Stopped using braid for that reason . I figured 14 bass master classics was won using Stren , then it was good enough for me . lol had to take a rat tail file to get the cuts out of the tip guide on two rods .
