Nice. The rod sounds like it’s enjoyable to fish with.

After not being impressed with a couple of Palms Pinwheel Ajing rods , a 5’6” and a 5’9” , I ordered the 5’ version of the Major Craft Aji Do Ajing . And found it to be a fun little rod .
I had to order the 5’8” version of the MC Aji Do .
I’m glad I did .
It’s the best of the four IMO .
While fishing out of my boat earlier, FedEx dropped off my 5’8” Aji Do rod . I saw him sling it onto our porch from the bottom step on my Rind camera.
I’d been catching sticks and leaves for a little over an hour , wishing I was bank fishing somewhere.
So I packed it in , took the boat home , ate some quick lunch , put a reel on my new rod and headed to the town pond .
When I got there , the fish were suspended all around the edge of the bank .
I wasn’t sure I’d catch anything.
It took twenty minutes to catch my first bluegill, which put me ahead of my boat trio in a quarter of the time .
I wasn’t sure I’d there about an hour and a half , but only fished about half that time because a friend of mine showed up and we spent some time discussing a little bit of everything.
Fish time was probably an hour and I caught four .
The new rod is the most sensitive of the group and has a nice bend with a fish on .
And this is with 2# Floroclear. I need to check it out with some braid , and post later .
I don’t know why, but I didn’t enjoy fishing out of my boat today .
Maybe I’ve become a bank only fisherman.
I do like the freedom of being to walk around while bank fishing . And the simplicity of grabbing a couple rods and my camp stool and taking off .
I may be putting my boat up for sale .
One of the gills looked a little rough so I tried to get a pic without touching it and then use my hemostats to remove the jig , pick it up , and toss it back in .
Nice. The rod sounds like it’s enjoyable to fish with.

Hey, I think I picked up the same rod! Is the one you're talking about model AD1-S582L, too?
Currently attached is a Tegmen Kingdom c2000s (143g!) with orange 2.1# Varivas Super Ester. What I've learned so far is that light ester and windy days do not mix -- lost ~10yrds of expensive line to an irreversible wind knot.
I only have a couple short (and fishless) outings on it -- my main lake still has a bit of ice on it and the fish haven't moved up to the bank yet. I'm reluctant to try it out in a creek setting until I have better overall control.
This is definitely the fastest UL I've used in my admittedly limited experience. Any suggestions for casting things like 0.5g jigs with it?
Yes, it’s the same rod .
And for casting the .5g jigs , save them for creek fishing and go with a .8g . That’s what I think I’m going have to do .
They’re still less than 1” , I just use a 4.6mm tungsten bead instead of the 4.0mm .

In my opinion Major Craft lives up to the company line. You get a great value for the money. Purchased about a dozen of them since 2011.

My luck ran out with ordering rods from Amazon Japan .
They ship them in a square cardboard tube box with a couple pieces wadded up paper , sometimes nothing . Just the thin case the rod comes in is all that’s in the box .
I liked the longer version of the MC Aji do and ordered a backup.
They delivered it today. Box was roughed up , looked like it had been bent in a U . Two big Oil stains on the box .
Inside the tip was broken on the upper section , below the third guide. Two much to consider adding a different tip too . Would be too stiff .
Packed up in the same damaged box and will be dropped off at UPS store tomorrow.
It happens.

I just reread your original post, mostly about not enjoying the day in the boat. This came to mind. All of the games and sports I follow, none of which are team sports, are all about 10% mechanics and 90% mental. There’s times I go alone, which I do a lot, and I wind up cutting the trip short. The head is somewhere else. We all know that there’s much more to this than the fish. There’s a few times I find my self sitting between casts and doing nothing. I’ve come to think of it as part of the deal. Other days I’m Fishing along and check the clock to find its two hours further along than it felt like it should be. I get fussed at for that sometimes but not often. Don’t give up on the boat. I believe there’s too much good that goes on in a boat to be without one. In a book called wind in the willows there’s a phrase “ there’s absolutely nothing better to do than messing around in boats” . I may be off on the wordage but the idea is sound.
