I only have experience bank fishing on the following two lakes, but from many, many years ago ...
You have Cedar Creek Lake within that driving distance (about 1hr 15min down US27 left on to US150). Bank fishing accessible around all the launch ramps & a fishing pier at the South end of the lake)
You have Taylorsville Lake at about 1.5hrs drive (Bluegrass Prkwy to Exit 34 on KY55 thru Bloomfield, then thru Wakefield then turn right on State Hwy 2239, and turn right on Settlers Trace Rd ... which takes you to the Marina) Bank fishing to either side of the Marina is accessible by foot. Or you can go to any of the other launch ramps and fish from the surrounding banks.
Google Maps & a good GPS in the vehicle will help keep you on track. Be sure you have your KY fishing license, and take note of the size & creel limits on either lake. (Taylorsville Lake limits are 10" size & 15fish creel) Cedar Creek Lake limits are 9" size & 20fish creel ... I THINK ... but there should be signs at the ramps stating the current regs on size & creel.
NOTE: Taylorsville Lake is currently 4ft over Summer Pool & falling after massive flooding of nearly 25ft over Pool. Cedar Creek Lake has a static drain system & does not "flood".

... they did drop the size limit many years ago. Shows ya how long it's been since I fished Cedar Creek.
Then some years later they took the size limit off, and I don't think I've been there but one time since then. And that was a night fishing adventure that was a bust, as we checked out several stands of timber with my Livescope ... and there were NO fish around them.
