    Default Just my luck...

Have had a couple real nice days for fishing, but as my luck would have it, I just can't get any where a fishing rod would catch fish. I have been taking care of a bad floor in the laundry room. Apparently this isn't the first time it's been done either. Sorry folks who did it before didn't worry about the vaper barrier hanging down, and the insulation on top of it...Which sure is making it bad for me. Now, bad weather/storms coming for next couple of days. Particle board subfloors are industry standards for mobile homes, but should be outlawed. Just sayin'.

    Default Just my luck...

Last couple of days great for getting a line wet. My luck is I'm in the middle of replacing the floor in the laundry room of this mobile home. A water line decided to let go and ruined the particle board subfloor. When the floor was pulled up, I found this wasn't the first time. Seems it happened before and wasn't repaired other than some wood was thrown down and vinyl throwed on top. wet insulation was left to pull the plastic sheet vaper barrier away from where it was secured and a big mess left. So after I cut a big section of the floor out and found this mess, it turned a simple repair into a major job.

All the loose blown in ruined insulation has to be removed, the old vaper barrier reattached to the bottom of the runners, a tarp patch stappled over where the old was torn, new insulation inserted in place, then the floor relaced. new vinyl down, and now momma wants the room painted too. No time to waste as her new front loading washing machines will be delivered next Monday. Adding to this the weather man is calling for rain tonight and tomorrow, and snow on Wednesday...As the thread tittle say's, JUST MY LUCK....Sure glad she thinks I'm Superman or something...

Not really able to really, but hard faced, Padded knee pads help, and a whole lot of faking what I really don't know how to do. Never really replaced a floor before to this magnitude. I just finished getting a lot of the old insulation out. So in the AM I can go under the house and reattach and patch the plastic. The repair will be a disposable tarp stapled to the bottom of the 2x6 runners over the existing plastic. that has holes and a big tear. Then put rolled insulation in from the top, cut my new piece of subfloor. I forgot, before the actual subfloor goes down, I have to bring a support over about 8" so I have a support along one wall. The fun never stops.
