We had it yesterday and sun today but like you we are below freezing until Saturday.

Frozen rain and snow fell all day yesterday 2/16. Today we got tossed around by a steady +40 mph wind. Even this morning the branches of trees and bushes were coated with ice, same for the slick coating on the driveway and walkway. Amazon postponed delivery until tomorrow because of the risk of falling of falling of the drivers.
Note: the ice coated tree in the back and how the evergreen tree branches in the foreground are drooping way down coated with ice.
It always happens a day or so before a major storm that a large deer or two grazes in my yard in broad daylight. I even had a squirrel burrow in the snow for deer poop (which my dogs try to snack on when I'm not looking) YUCK!
A deer just showed up a few minutes ago in the foreground trying to get through the snow and ice looking for grass. No above freezing temps for the next 5 days along with wind chills in the teens. Good thing the fridge is stocked! Bet nobody will be ice fishing this week!

The deer must be starving. Today I saw six deer within 30 yds. of the house munching on the evergreens shown in the photo.
Maybe those deer are signaling above freezing, daytime temperatures arriving by Sun. Can't wait.
A few feet of snow I can deal with - ice definitely NOT!
Update: A deer was on the front porch last night trying to eat artificial ferns in pots!
Sad that the ice coat won't let deer get to the grass below - anywhere. Hopefully once the thaw starts on Sun. they won't starve before then.
