Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek

I fished the upper end of Limestone today putting in at the old iron bridge. Crappie were slow and scattered with 15 or 20 larger Crappie returned, kept 6 of the small fish I like and returned a couple dozen shorts. Fish were caught 50/50 jig and bobber or single pole on isolated brush. The water was 55 degrees at daylight warming to 57 by afternoon with visibility of about a foot.

Gate was still locked so had to drag in from the old bridge. Gates should open this weekend or next.

That’s a heck of a drag when the water is down.

Gates open sometime between the 10 and 15. They only announce the specific date every few years. Last time they announced when the gates were opening was March of 2022 and they opened the 10th that year. I watch for upper Limestone closely, LOL. They list it as Beaverdam Peninsula.
