Default Gave it my best shot .

Yesterday it was 41 and sunny , I had hoped it had thawed out the town pond .
But it got down to 21 last night and when I showed up at the pond a little after noon , about half of the pond was still iced over .
With the temperature today near fifty and sunny, I had to fish somewhere.

I drove to the creek below lake McIntosh. After parking at the top of the hill at the entrance of the dam road , I started down the road and didn’t get a hundred yards and I heard a roaring noise and realized they were releasing water .
I knew the water flow would be too fast to fish .
I fished the lake around the dock area for about thirty minutes without any luck . I rarely do this time of year.
Packed up and drove back to the town pond and fished the open sunny side for about an hour without any luck and with a float .
Zilch, zero, nothing, a big stinking goose egg .

The pond had thawed about two thirds of, with the ice on the dam side where I usually have the best luck .
Hopefully the sun today will continue to clear the pond and maybe I can find a fish somewhere tomorrow.

Glad you got out and kept the cabin fever at bay for another day. Warmer soon.

You gave it your best when conditions weren't cooperating. It will get better soon, hopefully. I tried to cure my cabin fever and tried ice fishing but ice wasn't as thick as we thought. Thickest ice was 3" so knocked a few holes in the ice and started fishing shallow water area in case ice broke. No bites and after a half hour I thought I heard someone say " GET OFF THE LAKE". Someone had called law enforcement and she was telling us to get off the lake not wanting us to fall through so we did. No more ice fishing for me this year. Done with hard water fishing.

Glad you guys didn’t wind up in a bad situation.
Your day could have ended a lot worse.
I just don’t think I could ever trust being out on a frozen lake.

Hopefully we'll get some open water in a week or so. 40's- 50's this week so the thaw is coming. Lot's of weird noises out on the ice with some cracking. Stuff is really slippery too. At least I didn't fall. Was doing a duck walk out there.
