Not sure what one(s) you're talking about. There is a big, obvious crack going through, yeah. And the rest of those little ones are more like...feathered out crystalized ice like you might get on a window...but bigger. That happened when the surface melted a bit then refroze quickly.

It LOOKS intimidating, but....honestly, when ice gets made and expands and has no place to go, it shifts and cracks but re-freezes (assuming cold enough temps!) so...still "safe"....or...as safe as ice ever gets!

When it's super cold and you're on the lake you can hear it (and sometimes FEEL it!) "making ice". It's disconcerting, to be sure, but...it's also fascinating!

Yea last year when we were out on the ice it it starting popping and making noise but you could actually feel it in your legs. Made me nervous as heck. Joe tells me it's making ice but i felt like the lake was getting ready for dinner - ME!

I bet the ice then was 7 inches thick at least and I was sill nervous.

Looks like fun. Our ice stays too liquid down here. I did hear while ago, that Chaonia boat ramp at Wappapello had 4-5 inches of ice this morning

Going to try some ice fishing today. Your catches inspired me to get off my rear and not wait for the ice to melt.
