    While it (can) be a productive method, it isnt always so.
    And it isnt an easy method either.
    First off it pretty much requires standing as opposed to sitting.
    And of coarse making the holes requires effort as well.
    For me, at my age, moving very slowly along the edges of the weeds while using a long rod works just as well.
    There will always be some holes or openings in the weeds that you can drop your jig in as you come to them as well.
    When conditions permit, having a second rod in a holder on the opposite side is helpfull.
    The biggest problem here in Florida for fishing the weeds is the spraying.
    A few days after they spray the weeds start turning brown.
    And then they die off and sink to the bottom.
    And that ends fishing the weebeds at least untill they regrow.

    Pretty good article with lots of spot on info. It’s a blast to do and you never know who’s on the other end of that thump. Set the hook on a 5lb mudfish and you’re in for a fight.
