Default Daiwa Exceler Lt 1000d review

We had rain up until around nine this morning, little over half an inch , changing over to a cloudy day with warming temperatures.
I waited until after one when the temps had climbed into the mid 50’s . But still cloudy , with a light wind .

I took the new Daiwa Exceler LT 1000d , paired with a 6’ St Croix Avid Panfish to the Town pond for a little sliming.
My first fish was caught at 1:39 , a nice bluegill .
I went on to catch seven LM bass before catching my last fish , another bluegill at 2:52 , a little over a hour .

The new Exceler performed great . A Smooth winding , good looking reel , with an awesome drag . The Lucas reel oil did the trick and loosened up the grease on the main shaft reducing the amount of energy needed to turn the rotor .
I actually ordered a second one while sitting at the pond fishing .
The new reel looks nice with the Avid Panfish .

I just checked and the 30% off coupon on the Exceler LT 1000d is no longer available.
Glad I was able to grab a couple at the deal .

BTW , the Exceler LT and Legalis LT are the same reel except for the color and the Exceler LT has one more Ballbearing than the Legalis LT.
The New Exceler Lt weighs 175g .
    The gear Ratio is 5.2/1

I’m looking forward to my new reels but they’ll be a while yet. Sounds like you had a good time with em.

Got my second Exceler lt 1000d today .
With a few drops Lucas Reel oil , before I screwed the handle on………….. smooth as butter .
I don’t know if it’s the color , but these look smaller than they used to be. Look more like a 750 size reel which is fine with me .
I know these are slightly lighter in weight at 6.17oz . That’s close to the weight of a Shimano Nasci 500 size reel .
People must be buying them , at first they removed the 30% off coupon , today they added a 20% off coupon.
They should send me one for free . LOL !

Edit : the coupon didn’t last long . LOL! Now it says only two left

Just want to confirm bearing count, are you compare with old legalis or 23 JDM Legalis? From spec I see 5+1 on both. I had 23 Legalis 2000S-SP for awhile. I like it enough but I like color scheme of Exceler better. Another note 23 Legalis the knob is swapable while exceler is riveted, is this true?

I stand corrected. The bearing counts are the same at 5/1 .
I checked the handle on the Exceler and the knob is riveted on . Not a deal breaker for me .
    It’s a sub $100 reel .
The only Legalis that’s been confirmed to have a screwed on knob is the 2000-s-p .
I wanted the silver color and the 1000 size .
If I was buying another gold and black reel and wanted a handle knob that I could shim , I’d look at the KastKing Zephyr SFS 1000 .
The newest model has 7/1 SS bearings, a screwed on handle knob , a shallow spool and weighs 5.3oz .
It’s actually more of a Presso color black and gold . I own a couple of them and haven’t had any issues with them .
Sometimes they have coupons with them and they can be found for less than $60 .
Right now they are $69.99 with a 15% off coupon.
