    Default Have you ever ?

Have you ever gotten to the fishing hole and wished you’d brought a different rod after fishing for just a few minutes?

Today I left the house with two 4”10” Major Craft Finetail rods to compare how their casting was affected by the spool size . One with a 1000 reel , the other with a 2000 reel .
I didn’t like the way either of them handled today for some reason.
I missed my TFO Pastime T&P.
Since I only live a couple miles away , I packed up and took them home and grabbed my 6’ TFO Pastime T&P paired with a Shimano Soare XR2000sspg .
It took longer to walk back to the car and then back to my fishing area than it did to drive home and back.

Weather today was nice , fifty degrees at noon , light winds out of the SE .
Armed with my TFO , I fished a little over an hour and caught six LM bass and a fun size gill .
The TFO is spoiling me . I’m beginning to really enjoy fishing with this rod .

Sounds like it was worth going back home. Glad you got out and had some good weather too.

Thanks Tim , I’m trying to get out as much as possible even if it’s for a short period of time, while the temps are above 45 degrees.
Mondays low is 17 with a high of 32 . I don’t think I’ll be fishing on Monday unless the wind prediction changes . Right now it’s looking like 5-10 with gust to 22 .

I love mine too, but have a serious dislike of the but of the handle; will never understand who thought that was a good idea.

I can agree with that . The butt does look out of place. Something smaller or even a small diameter full fork or EVA butt would have looked better , which I would have preferred.
Split grip rods aren’t very rod holder friendly.

Nice catch! I've done it a lot. Especially when fishing below Nickajack. Get into a certain size fish and ask my self "Why didn't I bring so and so rod that would been perfect".
