Default Something from the dark side ......

Was at my friend's dock yesterday and about sunset, what bite there was way out in the middle went south as the sun set on the horizon.
About said time to go and then quite by accident I bumped into a light switch and on came some dock lights.
So as you know when in Rome , I just went about 2 foot deeper on my float setting to about 8 foot or so and drug my jig thru the light ......
KABOOM ! first drag ....WOW .....never even got a single peck in that spot that afternoon .....
Go figure , and they continued to bite for about an hour .....
then just like that, they quit .....very interesting indeed.
I was using an old Berkley Cherrywood 7 footer with an old syncopate Shimano loaded with 6 lb mr crappie clear mono with an Arkie red and chart solid body tube jig on a number 6 ball head sickle hook and a crappie nibble ...
ran it about 8 foot deep in 12 foot of water coupled with mostly minor to no movement and the bites were highly variable ,float would lay up sometimes , sometimes it would sink slowly and sometimes there would be these little tiny micro baby bream pecking type bites .....strange for sure ...
plain jane as it gets to be sure
so.....until I find time to ketch and post again ....
KABOOM is still the word in 2025 as well
p.s. released them fish and it was CCCCOLD out there too

Can’t beat those Berkley Cherrywood rods! Thanks for taking me along even though I’m in front of the woodstove.

I've been on the Bobcat for the last hour moving all the citrus trees out of the shop and back under the cover outside. Got my feet just a few feet from the fire now thawing them out.

Nice crappies, good to see open water pics. Haven't fished since the first of the year and getting a little anxious. Lakes I fish are all ice covered.

Almost tried it yesterday, but we needed to clean a deer , grandson said pappy we could ketch some fish off the dock and I had to think quickly…
Fibbed a little and said probably not biting and it’s really cold and we still have clean this deer and get back home ,,,,,it’s pizza night,,,,remember
