DHL dropped the rod off about 9 last night. Was chomping at the bit to put a crank on it and try it out. Woke this a.m. to rain and low 40’s temps. But folks I went fishing in the rain. Haven’t done that in years. Rod is very stiff, until you hook a fish. Amazed at how the first 1/3 of the rod goes into a pretty deep bend with only a 10 inch trout. Wasn’t expecting that. I was using a Major Craft slow sinking 5 gram Eden minnow. Five grams is the max lure rating but it handles it well. Just like the 63 UL it casts like a dream. Sensitivity is off the charts good. Line was Varivas 2.3# test Ester on a Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 reel. The feeling you get using this rod when a fish hits doing a steady retrieve is just pure magic. Hooked into 13 trout and as I was wet and cold headed home. Want to wish all a very Merry Christmas and if I can get away will hit the city lake a little tomorrow. Life is good!

    Regards

Congrats on the new rod and on getting it properly slimed !
I used one of my St Croix 6’6” light action Avids today . The action and power sounds similar to what you experienced with the MLF Italian Special.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Randy !

Went again this early a.m and once again in the rain. Worth the effort just to feel the thump. Caught several but much slower than yesterday. Going out again tomorrow……LOL.

    Good luck tomorrow.
I’m going to try to get to the pond again tomorrow if I can fit in an hour or so during the peak time of the day .looking like around 1:30-2:30 . No rain here , but cloudy with the wind increasing .

Glad to hear that the delivery came and that it’s all you had hoped for. Christmas cheer indeed! I hope the rain lays down for you soon.

Me too. The last time was when I got caught out a mile and a half from the car and just said go with it. The bite was on!
