I was about to give and answer not knowing what that particular reel was .Read an article in tackle tour that reel is a production bfs reel from abu garcia .You are asking to go to 1gram or lower which makes me think you have already tried to do that without much luck .Most of the factory reels can be improved to throw lighter lures with lighter spools and different bearings but I don't have any experience with your particular reel .My simple answer is yes but it will take some research on your part.

Yeah, it kinda is (technically) the wrong forum for that question. Look under the Panfish, Bream, Brim forum ... for All Things Ultralite forum would be my advice.
