    Default Briggs boat motor

I see that Briggs and Stratton has a boat motor. Has anyone here ever had one?

    Default Briggs boat motor

I had one years ago, probably fifteen plus years ago. Traded a guy for it. It was a good little motor for what it was… it had a little carb issue that when you opened it up wide open, in a pond or no current it was fine, ran good but on my river if I was trying to go upstream, pretty fast current in spots, it would want to bog down. I could never figure it out, mechanic couldn’t, so I traded it again.

I looked at them years ago as well. Lot to like about a little air cooled motor on a boat

Briggs Vanguard engines are powering many of the top surface drive engines pushing duck hunting boats and surface drive applications like Mud Buddy. Lots of them are EFI and some even turbocharged.

I had a Briggs Stratton 5hp on my little 2 man bass boat. It worked fine but I had to wear gloves because of the vibration.
