What kind of hair was on the tail?
HaHa: 0
I had a great day yesterday while catching some nice fish. There was about 20 total with three shorts but the rest were 12-14". They were all released alive and well..
I've been using this same jig for five trips and it's still catching.

The material that was used on this jig is EP fiber for the tail and Palmer chenille for the body.
Here's a Pic of it when new:

Great looking minnow imitation that catches slabs, can't get much better than that. Almost time to retire that one and make more.
Great looking Jig and groceries

Thanks Guys.
No complaints from me on this jigs catching, that's for sure.
It could be prettier and more photogenic with more effort, but like has been said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Still, I continue to try and improve my side of the equation with more effort and attention to detail.
So more need making, for practice and catching.
I have been somewhat able to get a better minnow profile by using some hair stacking. But, I can see how it would result in an even better jig if my abilities were up to task.
Some good looking jigs are now coming off the vice along with some not so good.
One of the main problems I've had is by using too much material. This results in a bulky body that is not ideal, but it may be good in low visibility situations.
Lighter amounts of fiber that are translucent in the water is the way to go, I'm sure. Making sure not to use big gobs of fiber all along the building process is key.
One other thing about this fiber. It will usually look mighty rough until it's finished and trimmed. Trimming brings out the best in getting the shape and mass right.
I've tied quite a few jigs since this one and like to think I'm getting a little better.
Will post some of the latest ties in another thread.
