    If you want to catch those bull gills get some smoked bacon and shrimp and black food coloring and cut into little pieces and put on a jig head

    That’s a very good article. It also reminds me to check my box and make sure there’s some good colored maribou jigs still there. Just a tip I’d also like to pass along to those living in smallmouth country. Orangutan orange is a color I found years back in TN and the smallies like it fine. The lighter the better for me.

    don't get me wrong , one year if you didn't have a black feather jig at one spot . you got to watch those that did have a black jig hammer some really big slabs ......
    never seen it since out there , but there was about 2 weeks or so that ....it had to be black ....go figure ,but the first time I ever saw black as go to, was during a flood situation , water was running right good in a normally semi dry gulch under a roadway. the crappie were stacked up on the downside in the back flow and hammering black jigs .....to this day I am pretty sure they were eating tadpoles getting washed down from the normally standing waters above that mostly dry gulch .....spring time ....

    I haven’t looked but im almost sure that southern pro will have some in 1”. I troll their curl tails with good results and have other colors of the tiny tubes. Good stuff.
