    Default Dodging the rain

The rain arrived last night and around noon today we had a dry spell . Phone weather said a noon until three dry spell ,
At 12:45 , I couldn’t stand it , it was 62 degrees , with little wind . I had to go for an hour .
    I grabbed my 6’6” TFO T&P 2 , but had swapped reels to a Shimano Soare XR500spg with Daiwa J-braid .
With the casting distance still in my mind from yesterday, I wanted to compare the 2# Floroclear with the J-braid . I wanted to compare the feel too. With the same jig I used yesterday.

First , even with less wind , the casting distance was less with the braid . It varied according to what breeze was blowing . Which was very little most of the time .
I couldn’t feel the breeze it was so light at times but the jig would act like it hit a wall and drop short . As much as 20’ shorter than the 2# Floroclear.
Yes, the sensitivity was increased , but it wasn’t the big difference I thought I’d remembered .
Even with a fish on , there wasn’t the big difference I thought I’d remembered.
The big advantage of the braid was I could lift the fish without worrying about breaking off .
I plan on going back with the Floroclear.

In an hour’s worth of fishing I caught eight bass and one small bluegill .
I did hookup with a nice gill , at least an 8 incher , that got off just as I started to lift it .

Got to go when you can squeeze in a little casting . I’m lucky to have a pond just two miles from the house.

Good for you. You’ve been hitting it a lot lately no matter the weather.

I checked over my log for the past couple of years and the town pond has been a productive spot .
It helps to keep notes .

Around 3” of rain between last evening and through tonight should give the town pond a good warm water flushing. Temps during the rain has been in the mid to upper sixties.
Hopefully that’ll put the gills in a better feeding mood .

Gillchaser, I just gotta say those warm water fishes seem to love cold weather at your neck of the woods.... cause I can't seem to find some besides stocker trout...lol
