Greed is the problem; people just want to blame FFS because it makes it easier to target only the big fish and find large schools of fish that want to bite easier.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

I believe this is a biologist doing a survey. There's not a fishing rod in that boat.

I thought that too but see hoop nets instead of electro-shocking equipment. Biologist also don't leave them on the deck like that.

In NC we have a no size/creel limit except for certain lakes like Jordan which is a 25 limit I believe. Still doesn't mean every fish should be kept imo.

Correction, Jordan is now a 8 inch minimum with 20 in combination

The Hoop net Commercial Catfishing Guys here scoop the catch out of the nets into a picking box like one for shrimping but bigger. I watched one in the Pearl River empty his net for 10 minutes while we talked. Didn't see him throw any fish back and I could see Crappie & Bass in his dip net. I'm not saying he didn't release the by-catch, he may have culled while running to the next net. Dono. I do know that the handling of the sportfish in that manner increases the mortality of the by-catch.

CrappiePappy I'm glad you caught the full post. Hate to think someone was using a Hoop Net intentionally to catch Crappie.
