Pretty new to tying. I'm trying to figure out how all the different types of materials behave in the water. I bought a bunch of different stuff during this Black Friday week. This is elk hair with a root beer chenille. Not sure if it will catch fish, but I think it turned out pretty good

Looks good to me, and looks like it will be doing some ketchn too...

That thing will probably wear them out. Back when I poured plastics, I had the mind set that everything needed to be bright as possible and the jig, body and tail all different colors. I no longer think that and use a lot of natural/neutral tones in my jigs.
Looks pretty good to me but is flared out more than I like.
Yeah, DrNip, the natural colors are about as good as any.
I really like grays, silver, black, and white, mostly light or dark gray. Usually I add a little splash of color with hair, chenille, or thread.
It catches my eye better that way!

Nice looking tie. Not much action with elk hair but the hair is hollow and floats. That jig would be a great choice for the colder water we have now.
