Gulp! is money, it also costs $$$, lol. The 2.5 inch gulp minnows are great for crappie, but you won't get many fish with one bait. Yiu can flip em over and rethread on the jig head. I was fishing with them the other day and a turtle bit the tail off. I had it flipped with no tail and they were still biting it, it's as close to live bait as you'll get imo, which is why it's pricey, not durable, and can be difficult to find. I'm getting the Gulp! Gel for Christmas to try on soft plastics so I'll let y'all know how it works. Others that I use are Pro Cure Shad gel and Gulp! Minnow spray attractant. The gulp can be used on marabou jigs as its water soluble, and Pro Cure makes water soluble attractants for dunking feather/hair in. I think scents make crappie hold on a few seconds longer before spitting the bait. This make them worth using in my opinion. A fish can spit a bait in less than a second. I soak some of my poured plastics in Gulp juice and use crappie nibbles on my hand ties when the bite gets finicky.

They will inhale and spit a bait in the blink of an eye, before you even think of striking. I was experimenting with a black chartreuse Johndon beetle bou one day just swimming it along the top of the water, out of nowhere a crappie shoots from under the dock, inhales it and spits it so quick and just disappears. Got another bite I missed and landed one dinker in a couple more casts. Attractant can definitely help them take the bait better

Edit: they also make Gulp! Crappie nibbles, they're 1$ more, I don't know if they're anymore effective, I've caught fish with both. I definitely prefer the powerbait catfish shad dough over the gulp catfish dough baits. Here's a crappie I caught on just the nibbles
