I am fishing Bayou Lacombe which is a fresh water tributary that dumps into the north side of salty Lake Pontchartrain which is an extension of the Gulf of Mexico. At its deepest parts, usually in the tight bends, it’s maybe 20 feet deep. Most of the bayou is around 10 feet deep. The water on most days looks like a glass of ice tea caused by the tannins in the water. The tannins are caused by the local pine forest and other foliage which the rain water filters through as it makes its way south to the bayou. This brown tint results in spectacular colored black Sacalait. Often golden green when yanked from their home. Deep dark colors unlike other bodies of water I have fished that are muddy or clear water habitats.
Bon Temps!!

Mirliton??? I have not thought of them in a while. I have had a seafood miriliton casserole before. It was rich and very good. I might have to find me some and make a mirliton dressing. Congrats on the nice fish!!
