Default Lake Claiborne - Deep Water Fish Starting to Show Up!

Fish are mostly still on the brush piles and timber but starting to see many big roaming fish out in the deep water around 20ft down

The all-winter crappie fest out there is about to start!

Claiborne will always be special to me as it was my first lake that I caught a Louisiana-limit of fish on (back before FFS was a thing). I did it with a pole in each hand, each with a double-minnow rig and could barely keep up with the bite. The fish were so thick that my little chirp sonar kept thinking they were a false bottom! Also had a double-striper hookup that day that I never thought I was going to land!

Thanks for the report. I have only fished Claiborne once as it is close to Big John's house, who took us in during hurricanes Laura and Delta, I can never repay him for what he did for my family during that time! Anyway, I only caught one small bream. John told me that Claiborne is a cold water lake, which I get because my home lake, Bundicks, is also a cold water lake. I know what you mean about a lake being special to you because of catching your limit there, that is Larto lake for me, the first and only place I have caught a limit! Thanks for sharing.
