Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to crappie fishing and looking for some advice as the weather getting cooler. I usually fish in and I am noticing the crappie seem harder to find now. I have heard they change patterns in fall and winter but I am not sure exactly where to look or what techniques work best as the temperature drops....
Should I be fishing deeper or focusing on certain types of cover? And are there specific baits or lures that work better in colder months. Any tips or personal experiences would be really helpful, especially from those who fish in similar conditions.
I also read this topic on this site https://shopkarls.com/blog/winter-crappie-fishing#:~:text=However%2C%20crappie%20are%20easie r%20to,wintertime-salesforce-admin but I could not find anything helpful for me.
Thanks a lot, and happy fishing
Best,
[Dianna]

In Alabama im mot even sure if we have started fall patten. But learn the crappie by degrees theory. Down size the bait, move fast and fish slow

Here in CT, I find I fish deeper in the fall than in the summer months. Last trip a few weeks ago, they were suspended over the deepest holes and still taking Road runners and 2" baits as I drifted with the wind. A slower presentation may help as well.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
