A warmish night
It was in the mid 50’s last night so I decided to go fishing. Jigging 10 or 15’ down in 25’ of water. Lost a lot of jigs trying to get rainbows off without bringing them into the boat but I had a great night on crappie. 1/32nd oz tungsten jig and a 1” gulp minnow. Tough to get decent pictures at night.

I do look in from time to time and always check to see how you are doing to my South. I seem to do most of my fishing beginning in September and continuing through ice out. I’ve never really figured out how to catch crappie consistently in the spring and summer and I’ve always been better at catching them after dark. I enjoy fishing at night when no one else is out and it’s just me, the owls and coyotes.

I hear ya on the solitude and Nature's gifts....
When fishing alone, I prefer to be feet dry as dark comes on as I've gotten older (and maybe a tiny bit more aware?). Allows my wife to worry less, too.

My wife isn’t thrilled about me being on the lake alone at night either, as a concession, it’s the one time I’ll wear a life vest the entire time. I have some of those auto inflating ones and I don’t even notice them on. I also just got a floatation ice fishing suit because I go out alone at night on the ice too. I’m not sure if it’ll save me or not but it’ll make it easier for them to fish me out!Originally Posted by 6poundtest
