I know what you mean Bugman. I used to really enjoy logging on to CDC every night to engage in good conversations about crappie fishing. I still look almost nightly and am very disappointed that no new posts are up for several days.
The Arkansas page is just about done for with the bragging and patting one’s self on the back almost daily. This person’s smart aleck comments made about the methods that other anglers enjoy using has discouraged most members from posting.
So Bugman, I would like to also see CDC go back to the way it was but I doubt it will.

CDC is one of the best forums I've ever posted on with many great members that encourage and consider new ideas, almost as if we were fishing in the same boat. But two things that affect how many post on CDC: bass tournaments and seasonal changes.
My club use to have meetings that were more than just about tournaments and in fact there was more arguing about tx rules than anything else at the last meeting I went to. I won't go to any more meetings because the theme is competition, not how one catches fish, lures and presentations used and other fishing related information which is kept secret. I can't blame them, it's just not for me/ been there done that. Panfish are not fished for - bass only - so I don't expect to see bass angler posts on CDC.
Seasonally, winter's coming and sooner than anyone thought in the northeast. It's been in the upper 20's at night for the least week and daytime winds and wind chills have kept me from fishing. Fishing stirs the imagination and presents new discoveries to share. Barring that, what's to write about when other non-fishing related activities take precedence?
Of course when cabin fever sets in, more anglers post in winter and early spring so there's no reason to give up hope for future CDC activity.
I encourage parents who take their kids fishing to have them visit this and other fishing sites. Most don't, which is sad because the more ideas one is exposed to the higher the chances of improving one's catch. But then again, many anglers are set in their ways and do just fine without changing a thing -IOWs the majority of anglers that get nothing from CDC or any fishing forum.
As for myself, experimentation and discovering what is false vs true is 95% of the reason I fish. Falsehoods and misinformation abound in ads to sell fishing-related products and on many forums that don't encourage unconventional thinking. I have been banned from two such forums which I find strange in that I posted more than anyone and was never disrespectful - at least to my knowledge. (If anyone has taken offense at some of my ideas that counter what some have posted, I apologize.) But the proof is in the catching and when things are proven on many outing over many years, truth cannot be denied.
Keep up the good work moderators. Moderation can make or break a forum when done improperly.

sorry if someone ever misinterprets what I post on here for sure , my agenda is simply ketchn crappie and will gladly help anyone anytime in the same direction
I try to post daily and keep it real and in line with folks that have that same agenda , as far as pats on the back and or bragging ....
not me for sure
just having fun and ketch crappie is my thing ....
cdc is the best ever website in my opinion , no trash talking idiots in here and fairly informative well ....![]()
Hey Ketchn, I definitely enjoy all your posts. Your willingness to show anglers you choices of lures and tips is a refreshing difference than someone simply stating “Caught another limit today as usual, same homemade trash bag jig”

Nothing wrong with making reports and providing knowledge by any means. From the time I joined 8 1/2 years ago the definition of a "heavy poster" has subsided. Used to these were the guy's that offered assistance and fishing reports. Now it just seems some are out for just a post count. My thinking if you post more than 100 times a month then that should include something beneficial to the community (at-least a fishing report once a month.) If you post more than 100 times a week you got way too much time on your hands... possibly..

I have been part of cdc for few years now and I’ve not been posting much for a few reasons, primarily as I’ve not gone due to too hot and spent time with my nieces. I got training in TX for 5 weeks so I’m unable to currently (unless someone is in the San Antonio area and wants to take me lol). Well I have gone. I just haven’t done very well or got really nothing at all. I’ve not been the best fisherman anyways ha. I love this site. I’m 34 years and idk that many people my age that are fishing (I’m active Air Force). It’s not that I don’t want to post it just I haven’t had anything really to say much.

I’ve limited my posting due to having a stroke and no boat. I still post some. Hope it don’t come over as bragging. I just like to share the spoils when I witness them. Tight lines guys. Hang in there.
I am getting older and don't fish much. So I have cut back on posting as well. I also have not had a contest on here in a while. But I look at the sight everyday and do try to add some content and even do a little moderating as asked or needed. I am real involved in moderating the FB cdc with Slab, CrappiePappy and a few others. That sight can be a little more challenging to keep upheld to our standards, but surprisingly not bad. I most definitely will say, Crappie.com is the best sight I know of. I hope to be with you guys for a while. Thanks for being such good members. "D"
