    Default Creek Fishing w/new Rod

    Locations:
    1) Starr’s Mill creek
    2) Line Creek below Lake McIntosh

Rod : Major Craft Finetail 4”6”-5’ Glass Trekking
Reel : Shimano Soare bb 500sspg
    Line : Daiwa J braid w/ 4# Floroclear leader
    Lure : 4mm Tungsten bead

I headed out this morning just before 11 after waiting for the temps to warm up.
First location was the creek below Starr’s mill pond and dam .
I fished there for about 30 minutes and hooked something small that got off while trying to get it out of some rocks . That was it , a skunk .

I was wanting to fish a creek , because lately , with the exception of the town pond, none of my still water locations were very productive.

I drove to lake McIntosh , parked at the top of the entrance road to below the dam and walked downhill the two tenths of a mile to the creek below the dam .
Luckily I had the place to myself because only a couple spots are accessible.
I caught most my dozen fish standing in one spot fishing either above or below a small shoal area .
It was the most fun I’d had fishing in awhile. I love creek fishing!
I caught seven redbreast , small to medium size , three bluegills, a small bass , and a shellcracker that ran all of the small pool I was fishing .
Actually all of the fish no matter their size fought like giants on my newest Major Craft glass rod .
It’s a five piece travel rod that with a special butt section , one can adjust the length from 4’6” to 5’ . Today I was fishing it as a 4’6” rod and it did not disappoint me .
Definitely a fun little creek rod .
And a looker too. Just look at the beautiful wood reel seat . It was hard to pick which fish pictures to post .

A couple of pics of the little creek .
You can see why the short rod fit the situation so well, where accuracy is important .

Nice trip. Those Major Craft stream rods in my opinion are a great buy. Not sure I’ll ever wade fish again out here but if I do I got a couple of them to use.

    Regards

I have one of the Mountain Stream rods and like the glass ones better.
Good prices on Amazon out of Japan if you watch the prices. They do vary , sometimes daily.
BTW , my wading days have been long gone

My wading days are getting fewer and fewer as well. Falls in a rocky creek are not good in your late 70s.

Really like the creek photos, I'd fish there. I still like to wade rivers but don't fish rivers and creeks as much as I used to. Certainly is some variety of fish in those small water spots. Never know what's going to bite next.
