    Default Unexpected blessing

One of my wife’s coworkers found out that my son and I enjoy pond fishing and she extended the offer to allow us to fish a pond on her property. I immediately felt excitement at the chance to fish a private farm pond not far from the house. I began looking at google earth images of the pond and formed an early bad impression based on what I could see. Well Saturday came and due to my impression from what I saw I wasn’t in much of a hurry to get out the door for the morning bite. My son was chomping at the bit to get a line wet so off we went. Upon arrival an older gentleman greeted us and gave us a tour of the pond his greenhouse etc. Well during that walk around I realized we hit gold! It was a nice sized pond spring fed that rarely goes below full pool with plenty of healthy bream and bass swimming along with minimal grass growth but it does have a good number of lily pads.

First cast worm and hook no bobber WHAM fish on! My son managed to land the first 3 fish before I could even get a line in. It was some fun quick action.

We fished a couple of hours and the owner ended up bringing his grandson down to see how things were going. I asked his grandson if he would like to catch a fish not realizing he had never even caught one. He immediately said yes so I cast it out for him handed him the rod and WHAM fish on! As he began to reel in the bream his grandfather looks over at me and tells me that his first fish. The boy was very excited/ eager to catch another. His grandfather looked at me and said I believe you have started something here. He then told me I was the first person surprisingly to fish for bream out of his pond. I showed him my setup and he told me a Walmart trip was coming sooner than later lol.

All and all this was very much an unexpected blessing to be offered such a nice pond to wet a line from time to time. Thanks for reading and be blessed.

Those boys will remember this for a long time. I still remember going with my brother and dad for my first gill. Small ponds are the best, just ask those boys!
