    Bob D,

You would have laughed your butt off! His head was too big to fit in my little Crappie net. I knew the only chance I had was to grab him through the gills but figure as soon as I did, he'd go crazy. He tried to tear my arm off and drenched me in water, but I got him in the kayak. Tore my hand up pretty good also on his gills but I've got a good story and a picture to prove it, LOL!

What's funny is everyone gives me a hard time about my ultralight rods, light line and tiny baits. I always say I catch more fish, and the size doesn't seem to suffer, at least for Crappie. Well, he hit a tiny 2" grub body on a Z-Man Micro Finesse ShroomZ Jighead in 1/30oz. You can hook a 2" bluegill in the mouth it's so small. You just have to slow down, work the water and get it in front of a fish.

DB, can't tell you how many 6+lbs bass I've caught using crappie ultra lite rigs and tackle!

I usually get several every year between 4 and 6 pounds, mainly in the fall or winter for some reason.

Had a older gentleman hook maybe what turned out to be a 8# flathead on 12' duck commander in the mouth of Cotaco. He kept hollering get the net. I just kept the camera rolling and watched it unfold. Good times

I seem to catch one or two Flathead a year on jigs. Always happens in the fall, not sure why. If I can keep them out of the brush and get them to the kayak, they always come home to the grease!
