    Default I was prepared today

I chose the right tool for the job .
The right combo for float fishing , that is .
A 6’6” St Croix Avid LF , paired with an older model Shimano Sahara 1000fd , spooled with 3# Floroclear .
The light action rod still gave me a fun battle with the gills , but with the 3# Floroclear and the extra backbone in the lower part of the rod , gave me the leverage I needed to lift the fish over the weeds and up the five foot high banks .
    I caught a baker’s dozen bluegills and a small LM bass .
Enjoying the float fishing for a change.
Took a couple boxes of jigs but used the same jig the entire hour and a half .
Lot of fun in those boxes .

Sometimes it's just nice to use a light action rod. I have several St. Croix's that I like to use from time to time. They are nice rods...

The St Croix light action rods over six feet are more like a fast action UL .
The UL’s over 6’ are more of a moderate action IMO .

BTW , hope you all are doing ok after the storm.
We were lucky , it turned enough east to spare us , although we got about 10” rain out of it .

I'm in the piedmont triad. For us it's mostly leaves, sticks, and limbs. The pictures coming from the mountains are really bad. I feel for all affected.

Nice gills and jig box assortment. Box has a little room left, maybe some little brown or tan to fill the remaining slots, or a couple duck feather jigs. Float fishing with these little jigs is fun, still love watching floats disappear.
