**DRs. VISIT Update** Good news, nothing overly serious wrong. Apparently the quad muscle at the bottom was put in where it wasn't happy. (Now tissue is the P.A.'s explaination). It having gotten tight snapped and in doing so got into it's happy place. X-Ray shows all replacement parts are still good and cemented in place with no broken bones...the increased swelling is normal and expected. Here's some muscle relaxers, low dose ones, and we will continue with therapy. See you on the 8 of Oct.....

That’s good news. It takes ALOT to damage the components. Recovery is a process over time, for me it was a year…

Yes, good news Eric! That said, a warning from your body. Do what the docs say and don’t push it!

Great news. Pain is the body's way to tell you to hit the brakes! Glad it was not as serious as you thought. I start my out-patient PT today. Good luck to both of us.

Hello everyone, It's been 21 days today since surgery. Here's where I'm at...Pain level is down but not gone. Exercises and stretches continue, despite the pain. It makes it worse it seems. Major Heavy duty Pain killers are gone and only Tylenol let for pain, even though Ibuprofen was subscribed, I can't take it due to another Medication it won't dance with. Ten more Physical Therapy visits planned. I am off the walker and using the cane again. Around the house, for short dashes at a turtles pace, No cane either. I believe the next visit to therapy, I get to start back driving again...Ms. Joyce can't wait. Bandage over the incision has started to peel back, even though the area is super tender, especially around the kneecap area...like even the weight of a bed sheet draped over it hurts. No redness, nor heat in the area. Cane or not, I get about 20-25 steps in and the knee is swollen again and don't really want to bend, and one has to really think about the knee bending or you want to stiff leg walk. That's my fun everyday. Hope everyone is doing great. Prayers for those who were caught up in the storms and floods. Tight lines and full coolers for those who get out to wet lines. Eric.

Morning folks. Just a quick update on my progress. End of 3rd week post surgery. No more walker, and no more heavy pain killers, though sometimes I wish I had some. Physical Therapy continues on Tues. and Thursdays through Halloween. Appt. with the Surgeons P.A. this next Tues. them P.T. after. Still have moderate pain when applying any pressure to the leg. Swelling down to 9cm. Doing the Elliptical stepper machine, lunges with Left foot on 2nd stair, Raising up on toes Holding onto on the wall, calf stretches, and stepping up one step using Left foot to lift body up to the step height. everything is in sets of 10 reps. then the hydro therapy for 10 min. at 40*...Strength building slowly. Ms Joyce and the Dr said I can drive again, so I take myself to appt.'s, and she don't have to sit and wait for the45 minutes I'm doing PT. I get my knee bent to 109* now and have to work real hard to get it straight to 2*. Goal here is 120 * bent, and 0* for the straight. well, I wont bore you all with the details no more. Hope everyone has a splendid Crappie Day. Tight lines.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. Keep on working. The pain will get better. A friend of mine hikes twice a week in the hills of northern TN. Up to 8 miles. He has replacements in both knees.
