I've used gold/chartreuse in muddy water and at times it does work good. I've never tried rigging the way you mentioned though.

I'm so bored at work. Our wonderful economy is about to put us out of business.
!st question. In some of Richard Gene's older vids, he uses a gold/char handtie in muddy water. I then see him using pink/wht & red/wht. I never read of CDC guys using gold in muddy water. I understand the other two. Just wondered if y'all used gold?
2nd question. I don't know his name but I watch him on YT called "seekers of men." No doubt a true gentleman. He shows rigging a 1/8 jig head with BGBS weedless by pushing the hook back into the body of the jig. Kind of like bass fishing and skin hooking a worm. Do any of y'all rig that way for vertical jigging in brush?

As to your first question. Yes I have used Gold in my jigs (hand ties), but I would say the water was more a stained color. Not too much muddy water around here. As far as question 2, I can't say as I have. Best of luck.

I use gold/chartreuse hand tie jigs. I use gold glitter CB Sliders, and gold glitter crankbaits. Good stuff in low visibility water. The gold and chart hand tie that Richard Gene uses came from Perry Pippinger of Moonshine Crappie Jigs.
I like orange in muddy water myself , never tried gold in muddy water that I can remember
never put a hook point back in a plastic either ....

First off i get the economy thing this has been my slowest summer in the 15 years i have been doing this hopefully things will change in a big way in november!!!i do make some gold colors and have used them in stained to muddy water with alot of success to me they rank right up there with black/char,orange/char and black/pink for muddy water i would even give them the edge on sunny days take a look at these and if anyone has any suggestions on different colors or swapping the same colors around i'm willing to give them a shot.![]()

I have played around with the Charlie Brewer snagless slider heads a little, casting in the Spring. They are made to rig like that, hook covered. Yeah you can hook fish with them, but after a few fish you have find a new hole - either turn or shorten the plastic. I get lazy about doing that, the hole in the grub body gets wallowed out, then hook point comes through and you’re hung up.
Not sure how they would work vertical, hook eye is at front of the jig head.
