    Default Black or white????

I just heard Brad Chappel say that he has noticed a color difference in a fillet of white vs a fillet of black crappie. Maybe I'm trying to go too fast to make that observation. Have you?

sure , black crappie filets look more translucent than white crappie filets and also seem to have less pink in them to me as well ....
black crappie filets look bream like and whites have a tendency to look more open water filet fish to me ....
always thought that and mentioned it before , but folks tend to not pay attention to my antics ....just saying

Over the years I have noticed a difference in texture more than color.
Just a difference in how the filet looks and feels when I’m rinsing them off before bagging.

I think you are on to something. Up here in the north, our small crappie feed on insects and minnows. Down south those 3 # crappie feed on baby gators. That would surely change the color. Black or white????

if you laid fresh filets in front of me and mixed them black and white , I could tell you with a blindfold on which are which easily ....
much more dense filets on blacks , once again like a bluegill .....whites are very "squishy" in contrast ....facts
