    Default Saturday 24th Results

Great day to be fishing. 4 new boats and a female entry. 8lb2oz (5 fish) won and 7lb14oz was 2nd. Big fish 2lb6oz. Wednesday will be last tournament. Come on out. Thanks to all who have supported the summer series. Met lots of new people and hopefully helped a few as well.

Looks like a success story to me. Glad you got folks involved and I hope to get up there for a Saturday event or two. Weekdays would not fit in with the traffic. I'd have to stay later and hit the road to avoid Charlotte traffic. It's a long trip just for a four-hour fishing trip. But you got a great thing going and I'm glad you got support to keep it going. Thanks to everyone who came out and gave the rest of us a good time reading about your successful fishing trips. I think all of you had great stringers of fish and some whopper big fish. Thanks, Leudy1, for getting it together!

Hey Leudy1 - Any commentary on technique over the past few weeks? Cranks? Docks? Brush? Riggin minnows? Open water sniping?

Unfortunately due to profession commitments I haven't been able to make one of these tourneys but being relatively new to the area, it helps me understand how High Rock transitions this time of year.

Yes definitely, we disclose all secrets at weigh in. For the ones not in attendance there have been some caught on brush, on floating logs, suspended in the creeks and main channel. Haven’t heard of any cranks being used. One Wednesday was won tight lining jigs tipped with minnows no live scope. Others were plastics and hair jigs pitched to or cast to the fish. I use jig head with minnow mostly. Lay downs in the creeks have been loaded with winning fish. Some think fish are very deep in the summer but that’s not true on high rock. All my fish were less than five feet in the water column. Water may be deeper but fish up at the top. Fish always on docks but which docks is the question. With only 3 hours to fish I go straight to river channel, mouth of creeks or some type of wood structure. Hope this helps.

Great info, Leudy! Appreciate it. I had success on cranks earlier this summer but that bite slowly went away. Since High Rock doesn't establish a thermocline, they (fish) have free reign to set up wherever they want vs. sitting on that ~12' line.

Hoping to get out sometime soon. Thanks again!
