That makes sense, I was on the phone and Slab's video was muted. He has more projects going than I do and that's saying something.

Like our man Dean mentioned, it came with a replacement floorboard. Just have to clean out all the rust and weld her in. You can literally buy anything for these Jeeps. They say you can build a new one from scratch just from auto store parts! lol

And generally, Florida Jeeps don't rust from salt, they rust from leaks. They leak water into their interiors, the water soaks the carpet and sits there forever until its rusts through. Kinda like foam in a boat I know, soaks up water and rots out it's stringers, right! lol

And I'm contemplating not welding the new jeep floorboard in, I may do something crazy like rivet and glue! I can weld, but I don't like how welding creates deep bare metal in crevasse's which are not easily treated/painted.

The running of the red jeep was short lived. I decided to clean it up a bit before starting on the pan and the muffler. I figured it might be the only time I pressure spray it completely, engine, interior and all. So I did such a great job that it dont start no more. Dang

I did some research and digging. I could turn the engine over with the jump wire on the starter that someone previous had installed. Now it looked like we had no ignition. Checked out a couple things, dug into the ignition switch, and found this!


That one connection in the connector is way fried.


And this too, that’s not fried, that’s just where someone tied in to the wire. That’s one of the wires going to the ignition switch. Someone been playin’

I ordered a new ignition switch and will have to be doing some reworking. Wish me luck.

Zero patience so I went to store and got an ignition switch, it seemed to work, I finally got my dash idiot lights back but still no start. Dang it. So I take a flashlight and check out the wires on the crank shaft position sensors. I see copper! Hey what. That’s not right. I giggle them and try starting and you would never guess it, but it worked. Fired right up. Ok then, a new crank shaft position sensor is on order. Yay


That’s the wires coming out of the sensor. Hey at least they work now at least. For the moment.

You doing what I'm going to have to do with my F150...Climb over, through and on top of. This has a E4OD trans. with either a short, bad ground that I need to find. Unfortunately, mine will be spring or after till I can get after it. No garage to work in, knee surgery very soon and it didn't help I rolled my other ankle, Opposite the bad knee, yesterday and can't put any weight on it. If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any...Good luck on getten 'er done up right.

Eric, man what a string of bad luck. Hang in there, it’s gonna get better. If nothing else send your truck to Ed and let him work on it.

Looks like the wired cooked on the Crank Position Sensor. I was expecting rodent damage. Also the plug housing for the ignition switch should be replaced. Can you get a new plug body? Looks like it would be very easy to release the wire terminals to swap them to the new plug housing and give you the opportunity to replace the wire terminal that burned.

Back in about the mid 80s i bought a 79 Jeep Cherokee that needed some help.
Turned out that it needed lots of help.
Anyway i got it all fixed and repainted and it looked very nice.
Our youngest daughter was the primary driver.
Anyway, one day i was driving it and got broadsided at an intersection totaling the vehicle.
I bought it back from the insurance co. and replaced the doors and straightend the rest up as best we could.
Plan was to make a dedicated hunting rig out of it and leave it at our N C Pa. hunting camp.
I bought a case of spray can paint in 3 different camo colors and gave each of my then very young grandsons a different color.
They fought like dogs while they were doing it, and we had a ball watching.
I had to touch up some spots but all in all it turned out pretty well.
