Storm Debby dropped about 3" of rain here on Friday, along with some wind gusts of about 35 mph or so. Not a huge deal but significant none the less. I had made up my mind yesterday that I was going fishing today and I had lines in the water about 9:10. Air temperature was a very nice 65 and the water temp out over the basin was 76 or so. Wind developed from the south and my arrival was timed perfectly to launch as the calm conditions changed to breezy; I have a real talent for that it seems.
I decided to clip on 1/16 oz. jigs and work the deeper waters away from the edges due to the difficulties in boat control that I expected. It seemed like a good choice as I had the 1st crappie in the boat about 2 minutes later, a nice 12" fish. It came on one of Micanopy's creations.
I didn't really expect to have a stellar day after the storm and I was correct; bites were very spaced out throughout my trip. This pond seemed to have a hard thermocline at about 18' and most of the sonar returns I saw were between 15 & 18', right where the 1/16 oz heads might have been running a bit too deep. After a long dry spell, I decided to switch over to 1/32 oz heads and would keep them on for the remainder of the trip. Winning lure combo of the day was a Roadrunner head with a Tennessee shad color triple tail grub from Southern Pro. Of the 9 fish I'd land, 7 of them came on that lure. The Percy colored Crappie Magnet would account for the other. 5 bluegill, 3 crappie and a yellow perch would be the catch of the day.
The 'gills were nice ones, 8 & 9", the crappie were 12, 10 & 13" for that last one laying in the net. All were hard fighting, even the perch.
No one else was fishing although there were a few kayakers paddling around. I got tired of rowing against the wind and called it a day at 11:30.

Mighty fine despite the sportiness of the fish. Thanks for posting.
