Default 8/5/2024 Nothing for the Fryer but good times on th bayou anyway..

Launched with my grandson Austin at 8 am. That's early for us but wanted to beat the heat. Well it was already hot and getting hotter by the minute. Water temp was down from 93 last week to 89F probably because we had some rain over the weekend. The water was not quite as clear as usual and there were lots of dead or dying plants along the banks and floating in the water due to the WL&F spraying them a week or two ago. There was also oil slicks from the dead lands probably. Not much water movement but it was trying to come up as the North wind tried to push it out the lake. First few stops were an indication of how the day was going to go. Small Tacos and not many of them either on the structure. The only thing that stood out was that the water column was so full of shad it was CRAZY!!! I am guessing that since their plant shelter is dying or gone they were forced to move out into the main bayou and boy did they move. The clouds of shad were being busted up on our live scope screen by bigger fish all day long. We did catch a garfish, a big stripper and several taco sacalait but no big sacalait unfortunately. There were 4 Wild Life & Fisheries trucks and trailers parked at the Main St. wharf and we saw them on the bayou all day. Be legal or pay the consequences. Check your expiration dates on your fire extinguishers and inflatable life vest. Know the new size slots and limits too.

Like I say all the time. You won't know unless you go!!

Another Paw Paw Adventure in the books as Austins 2024 summer comes to a close.

    Bon Temps!!
