Great result on a hot day! A heat index of 112 does not sound like fun at all.
Had been away for a few days camping on the gulf coast and had the urge to kill a few sacalait for dinner when I woke up. Sooo... Told my bride I was heading to the Bayou for a couple hours and when I came back inside after hooking up the trailer and putting some ice in the boat to my pleasant surprise my bride was decked out in her fishing cloths. We launched at the Main St. launch around 9 am. Yeah, I know we should have been out on the water earlier because it is cooler then but Ive found the sacallait don't really group up and get really active before 8 am. We were surprised to fined 7 other trucks and trailers in the parking lot. We hit a few spots and caught 1 or 2 and then moved further down the bayou. The water was back to its clear dark iced tea color and the temp in the main bayou was 5 degrees cooler than the side canals. Thus the majority of the fish were in the cooler main bayou. Water temp was 88 when we launched and 90 F when we put it on the trailer at 1 pm. The heat index was 112 F at noon. Ended up with 10 keepers all over 9" except for one taco who swallowed the hook so deep he was not going to make it. My bride had a blast watching those big slabs come from out of the grass or structure and follow the jig almost to the surface before committing to the bite. She caught the biggest one today a 12 1/2 inch thick Black, the kind that gets that hump on it's forehead.

I pulled 6 up yesterday in the Pearl and they looked like Goo. No color, almost pale silver from the dirty water. Yours look very good. Clear water lets a fish really color up.
