I actually went trout fishing in Arkansas instead—gotta check up on my uncle every once in a while. My son and I still kept 7 to bring home and eat at a later date. I had one nice rainbow trout over 14” that broke off on the 2nd attempt to net it—it was a beauty jumping out of the water. I forgot to take pictures before they got cleaned and bagged up. We did see one guy at the dock with a big rainbow that ended up weighing 5.0 lbs according to the boat rental’s scale.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

We used to go to Spring River, Riverside Resorts during the week, party people on weekends kill the fishing. Health has kept us away the past few years. Grilled with lots of lemon is the only way I can eat them.
I finally got a chance to take a picture of them after vacuum sealing, freezing, and taking them home. It was a fun, short trip, but it is great to be home.

Very nice
My family rented 2 large cabins and 2 small cabins in November for 3 nights one year at Riverside. The large cabin has 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a hid-a-bed in the kitchen/living room. Shower in bathroom and a good size kitchen. The small cabin has a queen bed and bunks. We used the large cabins for showers and meals. Son-in-law invited coworkers, there's another 3 large cabins with 6 in each. There were 24 of us that fished. Within seconds of hitting the water our baits were taken, limits within minutes. Some returned a few times during the day to get more. We ate fish every night cooked up to 5 different ways. Each person or family brought home 10 to 12 each.
There is a grocery store in Thayer, MO. Beef brisket was $2.59 per lb. I bought 1 to carry home. another was cooked on the patio grilled turned into a smoker. Great sandwich for a mid-day meal. I carried 25 dozen farm fresh eggs and all were eaten.
@canebreaker, that sounds like a great time! I usually stay in Norfork, AR and fish the White River area behind my uncle's house. I have stayed at the Trout Dock cabins across the river before, although I usually stay at the house. I enjoyed the cool low 60's F temperature in the mornings, especially running up the river in the boat, and even the low 80's F for the high wasn't too bad, especially when I had to run back up the river to refish our favorite sections of the river.

That trout fishing is a blast! I don't care much for the taste of them, but catching is fun for sure.
