I've had it about 6 months after it came out. I caught more fish before it came out than after. I can promise you that the pressure of it has made it tougher and fewer fish. I mainly fish Sam Rayburn.

Sight fishing is the same way, you can use any jig you want as long as you fish it correctly. I usually pick the biggest bright white or pink bait i have so i can see it well, theyll eat almost every time as long as you fish the fish correctly. I've dropped a jig and nightcrawler on a crappies nose and made him eat it MANY times while sight fishing bluegill and spot a random crappie.

From my experience you can make about 9/10 crappies you see on livescope eat the bait as long as you dont spook them.

If you have a week to do it. When they don't bite they don't

I’ve done as much info gathering about the system and I believe it’s how you use it. In one gents YouTube’s he uses it to locate fish and then rarely looks at it. It is used to confirm his notions of where the fish may be on this given day. If the fish aren’t there he moves on but doesn’t use it solely to find fish and then drop it on their nose so to speak. I’ve heard of tourney fishers that have the units go down and they put it on the trailer and go home. That shows that they don’t have the skills to be competitive without it. I guess I’m just thinking like the old man I’ve become and I’m set in my ways. Price is another factor and space in my small boat is another. For me, side image is as high tech as I need. I’ve done well with it but also make many trips without turning it on and still enjoyed the trip. While it isn’t for me I can’t look down on those that use it. I enjoy the trip even if the fish don’t cooperate, and keep in mind also that I mostly release what I catch. I’ll just keep fishing the way I know and enjoy and pray that the numbers aren’t affected like I think they may be by the greedy that might take advantage of something like this to further exploit a resource.

Don't know that don't have the skills is correct more like CAN'T be competitive or win without it. List all Bass and Crappie tourneys in the past year or two that have been won without it and it bet it's a VERY VERY Short list. It's just that good of a tool especially for those who master it.

I would bet the next great breakthrough in FFS will be a system that will lock on your target fish and stay locked on in the wind and waves. Probably have a open water feature so the trolling motor will keep the boat x amount of distance from the target, and follow open water roaming basin fish x amount distance behind….

It has certainly had a negative impact on the north MS fisheries. MDWFP has reduced the creel limit from 15 to 10 here because of it. It should have been done two or three years ago.

I own a live scope have since they pretty much come out. Never really got into chasing them down, just used to locate fish and depth for spider rigging. I can tell you now spider rigging is about dead, the fish are so boat shy you can't get within 20 feet of them hardly.

Pulling cranks on Sardis is the worst I have ever encountered this summer. You will need to side scan for an hour or two before you even drop a line and then good luck on catching many if any keepers. We had a low water spring here this year and the fish were just decimated. When everyday you have 200 plus boats on a lake and 90% are using livescope and catching limits it doesn't take long to fish a lake out of the bigger fish. Here lately you may see 50 boats on the weekends and maybe 20 during the weekdays. 5 years ago during the summer it would have been 150+ on weekends and 50+ or so during the week.

If they decided to ban livescope I'm all for it, would sell it to someone in another state where it was legal.

To be honest I'm just too darn cheap to put the money out for it. I have a thirty year old boat with a twenty five year old 40 hp 4 stroke. My elite 5 has downscan with 2d. For me half the fun is trying to find them. Rarely keep any except in the fall. But that's just me....

I know a man has to make a living and I’m not slamming guides or trying to start a ruckus but I saw with my own eyes the last weekend of March this year just how many guides were on Grenada now ! Sure most if not all were scoping chasing em down etc! Calling each other all ending up mostly chasing the same active schools of fish day after day many with double booked trips plus the ones seeing them doing it (bent pole method) joining in there with em ! 25-30+guide boats a day with prolly close to half double booked for the day at 40 fish per trip then! Sure adds up to a lot of fish being taken out of the water ! Is FFS the blame for it or the money being made or MDWFP For failing to control all the guides that’s on the lake ? That’s a lot of beating up on fish for just a 36,000 acre lake that has been hit like that fir the last 2-3 years.
    Too blessed to be stressed!

I keep upgrading my ‘85 Skeeter (yeah, 39 years old)—it’s still cheaper than doing the same upgrades on a $100k bass boat, and I would need to do it anyway.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.
