    Default Perfect day

A couple of days ago I went out after some gills. Bite was on until one gill got eaten by a big bass and wouldn't let go . Had it on for a couple minutes and just when I thought I might actually land it, it let go. Bluegill had some serious damage but swam off. Yesterday forecast was hot so I got out early to do some bass fishing. Pretty breezy early so focused around dock area with brush scattered. Started with a slider head finesse worm combo and skunk was off on the third cast. Crazy bass jumped five times before I lipped her. Didn't get another bite for over an hour but from 8 to 9 the bites picked up. Finished the morning with 7 bites and caught all of them, a rarity for me. Sizes ranged from a little over a lb, two biggest were over 3lbs. Great day fishing 5 minutes from home at a city park lake.Name: IMG_5371.jpg

That’s a good day of green fish. Sorry you missed the one that ate the gill.

Largemouth Bass are the bigger fish in the sunfish family and they certainly get charged up this time of the year. Everyone cleared the water at least a couple times even though I tried not to let them. I fish for them with 4-6 # test line to make them more challenging. Lot's of 4-5" gills hang around the dock and brush and you can see bass bust into them when they are close to the surface earlier in the morning. The fatter bass probably have at least a couple gills in their belly. I like to show them something different crawling finesse worms slowly through the trees offering them an easier, slower meal. It was working that morning.

Yesterday was my 16th retirement anniversary so had to go fishing for bass. Not as good as the last trip but caught 5 of the 6 bites I had. Took pics of the biggest one.
