Yesterday was a hot but comfortable day around here as the humidity was more comfortable than it has been even though the temperature made it to 85. With more 3H days coming for this week, I decided to visit the pond last night and see what I could find. Air temp when I shoved off was 84, water temp at 83. It had been a near cloudless day but I could see clouds building in as I drove and launched and I welcomed the more subdued lighting and break from the direct sun. I had lines in the water about 5:20 and once again left them biting about 8pm.
I was busy; 10 fish in the first 15 minutes, 21 as the first hour ticked by. Here are some representative snaps of my catch.
You get the idea; fish of all types and sizes were making sure I didn't get bored rowing around. Had a blast pulling them in steadily all night.
Those clouds that built in started dropping some light rain and I could see some heavier rain falling from the sky to my south that thankfully missed me. I'd had very calm conditions but after those dark clouds moved off, I had about 15 minutes of some very active wind and I had my hands full staying pointed in to it. Thankfully, it would soon taper off and the calm conditions would return for the rest of the evening. As that little mini front moved off, a nice double rainbow would show up, one bright and clear, one not quite so bold.
As I debated calling it a night, I had a good hit on one of the 3 rods and pulled in a nice 12"er that tangled all 3 lines. I got him in and released, picked up the 2nd rod to address more of the tangle and found another crappie on that one. Got him released and cut the jig off of that and reached for the 3rd rod. Another crappie on that one and I laughed and called it a night at 8.
A total of 56 fish would be landed and a few more lost at boat side. 2 nice perch, 2 small bass, 1 pickerel, about a dozen bluegill and the rest were crappie.
All were released for another time.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
Great outing and pictures. Thanks for sharing with us

Good report and pics. Some nice catches and a very enjoyable sounding trip. Good job. Thanks for sharing.
Nice catch. That is a lot of action. Rowing around in the hot sun takes dedication. I took the wife out in the boat yesterday to try out my newly installed bimini top. We trolled a couple of rods for a little bit. The fish were very active. Released the ones we caught. They were small anyway. It was more of a putting around the lake under the new top afternoon. Good post and nice pics.
