Default My Sons First Fishing Trip

This past Friday I took my little boy crappie fishing for the first time on Enid Lake. He is 4 years old and I was worried he was a little young to battle this Mississippi heat but he did really well. He made it all day and had a lot of fun. I never thought God would bless me with a little boy that I could take and experience this with. It was really neat. We ended up with 5 keepers and probably 20 throwbacks. He reeled in most of them with minimal help from me. We took his first keeper crappie and did a paint print on it today. It’s an old Japanese practice that you paint the fish and then stick rice paper to. Turned out really cool and actually might be cooler than a fish mount. Going to get if matted and framed. More trips to come! I believe I attached some pictures of the trip.

Fun times! My dad started taking me fishing around 5 years old, and I’m going for the last 40 years. It is somewhat nice to have a fishing partner already under the same roof, so coordinating an impromptu fishing trip is a lot easier, as I’ve learned taking my son for the last 6 years.

If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

I was also thinking also umbrellas and a battery powered fan. I wish that we had all of that back when I was a kid 40 years ago.
